______________________________________________________________ About Voodoo-X Copyright Andrew Bell Jump to Voodoo-X Links [Information from Voodoo-X Documention] Voodoo-X is an MUI based front-end for Dirk Stoecker's powerful unarchiving system xadmaster.library (Shareware). Unlike other dearchiver front-ends, Voodoo-X doesn't depend on external archiver commands (such as LZX, LHA, DMS, etc.) being in the C: drawer nor does it require complicated command line setups for these commands. This is because XAD does all the hard work. :-) Voodoo-X allows you to quickly browse an archive's contents and view individual files (with filetypes) like pictures and documents just by double clicking your mouse. This method of browsing archives proves to be highly effective since you don't need to get your hands dirty by extracting files to temporary locations such as Ram:. Voodoo-X does all that for you. Note: Voodoo-X doesn't actually write disk based archives (like DMS, xMash, etc.) back to disk, but instead examines them to see if they are OFS or FFS formatted, if they are, it then allows you to browse through the contents of them and retrieve individual files. Voodoo-X can also retrieve files from inside standard FFS formatted (i.e AmigaDOS) ADF files like those used with WinUAE. OFS, FFS, DirCache, International, double-density and high-density disks formats are all supported. xadmaster.library is a modular system and will support even more archiver formats in the future. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: * All Amigas with OS3.0+, MC68020, 2-4MB of RAM recommended * xadmaster.library Copyright Dirk Stöcker Not included within this archive [Available on the VHT-Canada download page] * MUI v3.8+ Copyright Stefan Stuntz Not included within this archive [Available on Aminet - see links below] * MCC_NList MUI custom class v0.89+ Copyright Gilles Masson Not included within this archive [Available on the VHT-Canada download page] * MCC_SpeedBar MUI custom class 1.3+ Copyright Simone Tellini [Available on the VHT-Canada download page] * MCC_NListtree MUI custom class 18.8+ Copyright Carsten Scholling [Available on the VHT-Canada download page] * xvs.library (Optional - used to virus check archive) Copyright Georg Hörmann, Alex van Niel and Jan Erik Olausen [Available on the VHT-Canada download page] * xadclients.lha 1.3+ (Optional - used to search xad client info) Copyright Stuart Kyzer Caie [Available on the VHT-Canada download page] * openurl.library (Optional - used with xad clients guide) Copyright Troels Walsted Hansen [Available on Aminet - see links below] FEATURES: o Browse many archives very quickly. Voodoo-X contains an archive history list, much like the URL history list of a web browser. This allows you to switch between archives VERY QUICKLY with only three clicks of the mouse button. o Retrieve files from within DMS archives (and other disk based archive formats too) without having to extract the entire archive to disk or a virtual disk device like FMS. o Browse archives inside archives. Quickly gain access to that document inside that LHA inside that LZX inside that DMS. ;) o Quickly view pictures, documents or similar files that are inside archives simply by double clicking on a file. Voodoo-X will then extract it and start the viewer of your choice. o Drag one or more archive icons from Workbench into the main window to browse their contents. o Support for multipart archives. o Virus checking. If you have Georg Hoermann's/Jan Erik Olausen xvs.library system installed, then you can check archives for file viruses. You can also specify if every file extracted should be checked. o Lots of archiver formats are supported (common ones and obscure ones). Disk image formats are also supported, so you can treat AmigaDOS formatted ADF files as normal archives under Voodoo-X. o Fast decompression, thanks to xadmaster.library. Note that this really depends on the client being used. Some clients are coded in C and might noticeably slower than the original archive program on older CPUs. o Very easy-to-use user interface, thanks to MUI. o Quickly copy, move or delete archives using pull down menus. This can be highly convenient when going through download directories. o Search window. Search for strings or filename patterns inside archives. Uses assembly optimized string search routines for greater speed. o Nice progress bars. :-) COPYRIGHT: Voodoo-X is Copyright © 2000 Andrew Bell. All rights reserved. Voodoo-X is uncrippled GIFTWARE and is provided "AS IS". Please refer to the documentation for more information. Although Voodoo-X is uncrippled GIFTWARE, xadmaster.library and MUI are SHAREWARE. Please consider registering XAD/MUI and show your support for Amiga software. It is NOT an archiver GUI or anything like that. This system does the COMPLETE unarchiving stuff with internal routines, NOT calling shell programs or using other programs to do the work! It is comparable to xfdmaster.libray system providing same features for crunched files and programs. The system has lots of features. Here is a list of some: * unique interface for all archiver types * open structure and interfaces * users can add own archiver formats without much effort * uncrippled shareware * very stable and error resistant (unlike most of the original archivers) * most important archivers lha, lzx and zip are supported * most important disk archivers dms and zoom are supported * lots of other archivers are supported as well! * also supports self extracting archives, which could not be unarchived before (because they crash on newer Amigas or are for different operating systems) * disk archives can be extracted to disks and files (ADF) * files can be extracted from disk archives and disk image files directly * programs can use this system very easy (some virus checkers do already) Distributability The xadmaster.library is Shareware with very special conditions. There are no usage restrictions (means this is no Crippleware!), and xadmaster.library use can be implemented into programs without any restrictions. Only the end users have to pay shareware fee, if using xadmaster.library. VHT-Canada Announcement Dirk now has the XAD package seperated to make for easier downloads. The xadmaster developer files and source examples are not available on VHT-CAN. If desired, you can Search Aminet for xadmasterdev. Now, you only have to download the archive you need (for your CPU): xadmaster000.lha : 68000 and 68010 xadmaster020.lha : 68020, 68030, 68040 xadmaster060.lha : 68060 xadmasterdev.lha : developer files and source examples About Xvs.library The eXternal Virus Support Library Copyright Georg Hörmann, Alex van Niel and Jan Erik Olausen [Information from Virus Help Denmark] The entire XVS software package is written and copyright 1997-99 by Georg Hvrmann. During December 1999 to June 2001, Alex van Niel took over programming. Additional changes and updates during June 2001 and onwards are copyright 2001 Georg Hörmann and Jan Erik Olausen. This Library contains all the virus recognition and removal code that was formerly included in VirusZ. This step has been taken for one major reason: VirusZ can be updated fast without releasing the whole package every week by simply releasing a new library version. So simply install the library in this archive to your LIBS: drawer to get 100% protection against the latest viruses. Right now there are a few anti-virus that uses the xvs.library to find and remove the nasty viruses. Here are the names: VirusZ II & III - VirusChecker II - VirusExecutor - VirusSlayer II CheckX - Safe. [Note from Virus Help Team Canada] Andrew Bell uses Xvs.library in Voodoo-X, which is the GUI for the XAD package from Dirk Stoecker.
